Meet our 'Time Team'

Peter Burrell, chairman.
Peter owns a motorbody repair shop on the A6,
Garstang. He is a fan of popular organ music and a keen

members, a bit of his early life (aged 14 or 15)
aboard a Fleetwood trawler in the choppy waters
off Iceland.

Anthony is a former deputy editor of the Garstang Courier and
Longridge News. He has had a keen interest in local history and
archaeology for five decades, is co-author of the recent book,
Garstang's Great War Heroes and tries to keep this website up to date.

Maureen Spiers, treasurer.
Maureen has worked in administration for many years and is well known
in social and farming circles in the area. Her husband
Bob Spiers is a retired policeman. Both Bob and Maureen are
popular characters in Garstang. Her role running the society's finances
is much appreciated.

Bob Denmark, committee member.
Bob is a retired senior police officer who lives
at Bonds, Garstang. He has a professional interest in
the topic of investigative ethics and the police.
His many interests include cycling
and politics. He has worked in various parts of the
world, including central Africa.

Carole Worthington joined the committee at the
April 2018 annual meeting. She is retired. She moved
to Garstang in 2011 with husband Steve,
from the far side of the Lake District. She found
"this wonderful area to be rich in clubs and societies."
Carole has always had a keen interest in all things
historical, ancient medieval and modern.
She also has a love of music – classical, jazz, guitar,
and more recently, ukulele.

Jill Jones, a new committee member.

.
At the 2016 annual meeting John Cowell and Mrs Nancy Cowell retired from the committee
after many years service. Thanks were expressed for their efforts for the society, including
Mr Cowell's earlier stint as treasurer, by committee members.
